BaseDirection Enum

The direction a paragraph is laid out in before its content says otherwise: the input to UAX #9 rules P2 and P3.

Fields

Ltr 0

The paragraph is left to right.

Rtl 1

The paragraph is right to left.

Auto 2

The direction of the paragraph’s first strongly directional character decides, or left to right when it has none.

Remarks

Ltr and Rtl map one-to-one onto the CSS direction property. Auto is what CSS unicode-bidi: plaintext and the HTML dir="auto" attribute ask for.
