A font can give a glyph an SVG document in its SVG table. It is drawn as real vector content: the document's var(--color0) takes the font's palette (so font-palette works), and context-fill and currentColor take the text colour. A, B, C and D are four glyphs of one font; B and C share one document.
ABCD default palette, black text | ABCD color: #0b7a3b (B follows the text colour) |
ABCD font-palette: --second | ABCD override-colors: 0 #7c3aed, 1 #f59e0b |
ABCD 20pt: the same artwork at another size | ABCD filter: drop-shadow(): a raster region, still the real glyph |
F F: the square is context-fill orange with a context-stroke blue edge from its <use>; the disc is the text colour | F the same, in a raster region: both paints survive |
G G: a red block left of the origin and a green one two and a half ems to its right, beyond the em box: not clipped | G the same, in a raster region |
